Are you for education, or for leaving school and starting to be an entrepreneur/making your own business ?

What's you're choice between quitting school and starting your own business and staying in school and working for someone else all your life ?

Education
Elaine M:
School is the reason to back your start as an entrepreneur. Marketing classes, a 2 year marketing degree, business classes, accounting classes. Networking!!!!!! It all ties together to make it a viable business that can last past 3 years.
Rinkydink:
Stay in school and after graduating you can be a entrepreneur. There is no reason you'll have to work for someone all you life. BTW you'll be more successful with an education.
tro:
getting an education is never a bad thing for anyone, in some cases education in some kind of a skill is far better than a general arts education
as for starting a business that can happen any time in your life, you are not locked into working for someone else all your life

I finished school and went to college and finished that. I got a job doing what I learned in college. I continued to pursue my own interests as 'hobbies' and gradually developed one to the point that I was making side money from that.

I then took my 10 years of savings and went full time in to what I wanted to do and turned that in to a business. My own business. It was fun for awhile (4 years) and I was able to pay my mortgage and buy a vacation condo (instead of sending my kids to private school)…but I had to work 12 hour days to keep things running.

So, I let the three guys who were working with me – buy me out and I went back to work in an office.

And After working for myself, I pretty much hated having to deal with the VP who was very… 'intellegent enough to tie his own shoes…bless his soul'

So I left after 2 years and started doing marketing consulting for entrepreneurs.

So now I work at home and yeah, right now I am wearing by Batman 'Footie' pajamas and my 'Bat Cape' as I walk back to my house after driving my youngest to school (because I can).

But it was a LOT OF WORK GETTING TO THIS POINT.

It is very unlikely that anyone without an education could start a successful business without any experience whatsoever. Sometimes you hear of kids who start businesses but usually they have parents who have experience and can guide them.
