Can I own both a Discover credit card and a Capital One credit card?

I've had a Discover card for a couple years now and my credit is excellent. I'm thinking about having a second credit card for emergencies.

I've been getting mail from Capital One for a while now and I'm thinking about applying for one.

This will be my first time owning more than one credit

This will be my first time owning more than one credit card if I do apply. Is it okay to have both a Discover card and a Capital One card? Or do I have to stick with one company and get a second credit card from Discover.

Two cards fine and normal, always good to have a back up. Shop around though for the best deal on fees and rates, points, miles or what ever works for your.

You can. Some places don't take Discover, so it's usually best to have at least one card that isn't Discover.

They vary in benefits. The best way is not paying interest, and use the card that has the best give-back on each purchase. You can have all the cards you want, but stolen wallet is tougher to deal with.
STEPHEN:
You can have many credit cards as your credit can stand.

there is no law saying you can't have more than one, the point is each card will have its own requirements and one may not issue you theirs based on your information

Of course, throw in an American Express if you want to

Why would there be anything that prevents you from owning both?
