in the first place you are certainly not well schooled in business, a dba is a registration that you are generally required to publish in the local newspapers to get a business license, it is 'doing business as' and has no standing as regarding liability'
an LLC is a state designation, limited liability corporation, but since IRS does not recognize that designation but only a corporation, a partnership or a sole proprietor–which you are you are not required to abandon one for the other
knowing as little as you do about that designation you would do well to operate as you have all along until you are better informed about what is involved with them
if you are worried about liability, you can get a $1Mil umbrella policy for $325 an LLC could cost you $800 a year no matter how successful you are

A d/b/a is typically nothing more than a registered name for a sole proprietor or partnership. You can capitalize your LLC with the good will and the right to use the d/b/a name (assuming it's available in the registry), but it's not really "transformed" into an LLC. You're just taking your existing personal business and creating an artificial "person" in the form of an LLC. Not sure what it costs in Texas, but I know there are lots of people who "shop around" for the best deal for registration in another state.

WHY get a LLC ?
Better get seriously educated about Reality of LLC before wasting your time effort money for nothing.
If you doing DBA and can't afford llc then u don't need or qualify for one.
Get educated b4 u LOSE LOTS more money to lawyers Texas Comptroller (business taxes for llc ) IRS for llc taxes and personal taxes.
Judy:
Do you have any reason WHY you want to makr an LLC? For most people who form them they are useless.
