Now we have had a ralationship break down and i want to go back only the housing list to he able to move from my current tenancy to my own again. But it s been 5 years and there was rent arrears I don t no where I stand if I leave I don t want to leave myself homeless relying on others.
.so in simple words. Im on a tenancy agreement but want to take my self off and move back to my previous council that I had rent arrears with 5 years ago.

Where do I stand.

Up the river without a paddle!

Arrears mean you will not get any social housing and highly unlikely to get private rental either
You have to live in the council area for 2-3yrs ( depending on which council) BEFORE you can even get on the housing list and it might be 10-15 yrs before a property becomes available anyway

Politically Correct:
Where do you stand? Partner needs to be the one to move out. You are not going to ever get council housing with arrears on your record.

In future, prioritise your rent and get married before you shack up. Doing those two things will do wonders for your health and happiness.

You would have little chance of returning to your former tenancy with a background
record of arrears.
