How much should my dad pay me to work in his business?

Hi so my dad said he will pay me if I work in his business and told me to decide on a price.

It's not going to heavy labor, it'll be more of a assistant type thing like keeping track of things

I'm only 13 BTW so it's not gonna be a real salary like $500 a week lol and it's a run from home on

I'm only 13 BTW so it's not gonna be a real salary like $500 a week lol and it's a run from home on the side from his real job (it's like an eBay type thing) so it's not like he's actually hiring me to work for him and do stuff it'll be more like a chore

I was thinking like $20-50 week that is extremely low for what he makes a week and he has no other employees or anything to pay so I mean that isn't bad at all

Well, my parents own a food truck and I'm their cashier. I am 12, (on Jan 4th) and have been their cashier since I was 10. I get paid about 20$ a day. But… I am actually working just like a teen would at McDonald's. (as a cashier) so I would say about maybe $15 a day because you are only working as an assistant. $15 dollars a day means $75 a week (not including weekends) so you'd be making money pretty quickly (at your age at least) Hope this helps 🙂

I worked for my Dad too, only he didn't own the company, he was just the manager of it. This was when I was older than you though and I got paid the same as anyone else working in the same company. All I expected was a bit more leniency when I did something wrong but I now think I was out of order expecting that even. I'd say try and treat it as though you are working for someone that you don't know, there will surely be other management as well as your Dad, you want them to notice you working properly and you don't want to be seen as a hanger on.

parents can employ their minor children in their businesses but the pay cannot be inappropriate with what you do, more than likely if he pays you minimum wage 7,25 that should be adequate depending on what you do
keep in mind he is not required to withhold SS and Medicare(nor likely as state employee tax) until you are 21
if you make $6500 in 2017(that would be almost 900 hrs in 2017) it will not be taxable to you for income tax

Try $75. Or maybe a percentage of profits.
