733 sounds like SSI, not a paycheck. have you tried getting help from vocational rehab?

YES YOU CAN EARN MONEY AND KEEP SOME SSI. You can sometimes earn about $1500/month and still get a low SSI payment (as low as $1). You can regularly earn less than 1170/month and keep benefits indefinitely.

SSI is reduced by about half of what you earn working. It is going up to 735/month (and of course food stamps go down because of the increase). The 1st $85 is not affected. If you can find a part time job earning $985/month, your SSI will be reduced by $450. Your total income would be 1185/month between work and SSI. Still not enough for an apartment by yourself. you need to rent a room, get section 8, or find roommates.

Judy:
You can earn SOME money and keep SSI, but nowhere near $6000 a month – SSI is welfare and you'd no longer qualify, but if you could find a job making that much, you wouldn't need SSI.
babyboomer1001:
Receiving ssi has nothing to do with how much you earn at your job but, you are likely going to have to improve your credit in order to rent. Go and find a job you are qualified to do, earning more than what you are doing now. If you cannot find one, then stick with the job you have and put up with it.
shipwreck:
There is no legal way for you to earn money and keep your SSI. SSI is only for people who can't earn money. So if you take a job you will lose the SSI.
