Do you get social security or SSI?
SSI is the federal welfare program. The benefit is always paid on the 1st UNLESS the 1st falls on the weekend or a national holiday in which case it is paid the first workday before. SSI benefits are due today.
SOCIAL SECURITY benefits are paid on either the 3rd of the month OR on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month. Social security benefits are NOT paid on the 1st; if you are usually paid on the 1st you are not receiving social security; you are receiving SSI. Two totally different types of programs.
They are paid on the 3rd if you became entitled to benefits before June, 1997 or SSI is or was involved in some way either you receive or received SSI or you had a spouse or child who did. If the 3rd falls on the weekend or a national holiday it is paid the first workday before – just like SSI benefits are.
Otherwise social security benefits are paid on either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month depending upon DAY of birth.
SSI deposits are made on the 1st of the month. Social Security payments are deposited on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month depending upon your birth date, except for beneficiaries who received benefits prior to May of 1997 who are paid on the 3rd.
Allow 3 days from the due date before contacting the SSA about missing payments.
I believe the first payments of the month are by the 3rd, sometimes they arrive in banks before that but don't count on anything earlier than that
Your taxes for the year will not be affected if you receive it before year end.
