I was only scheduled four hours next week, what should I do?

I am kind of just hoping the schedule isn't finished? But I am literally just working one day. I'm 17. I work in fast food. I'm not sure if this is because of Christmas because I don't know how other people's schedules are.

I mean we're open on Christmas Eve and I didn't take it off. I don't know? Maybe it's my job performance? I have been trying to be quicker and I'm nice to the customers.

Should I bring this up? Start looking for a new job? I really can't do anything with four hours. I don't mean to sound whiny, but in the coming months, I have college to save for, and bills and food my mom is going to(already started) expect me to help pay for.

There has always been some favoritism with schedules, as a girl, same age as me, is working 27 hours( yeah, it is illegal) while other people are working 17, 15, 10 hours. I mean, that's fine. She is the one people comment about. I mean, customers tell me I'm nice, but honestly, I don't care unless they're telling my managers at this point.

I'm not sure who did scheduling this week. There are always two managers on duty and I only know of one who is involved with scheduling. There is always the owner, but he can be a hit or miss with when he comes in.
You can only work 21 hours if you're a minor between 16-17 and even lower than that at 14-15.

Thanks! I am just comfortable here, the employees are nice, but I mean, 4 hours was a slap in my face.

It could be a performance issue, you would have to speak to your supervisor or your boss and ask why you're not getting hours and if you will be getting more hours if you can fix any issues that they have with you.
If you're availability is open and you're not constantly changing it you should be getting hours.
It's not illegal, I've had the same thing happen to me. I worked at a store where one person would constantly get more hours then me (and every one else, I had no performance issues) every week. They always gave me the excuse that they didn't have hours because the store was slow.
If they can't give you more hours then you should start looking for another job that can give you hours.

Yes, start looking for new job. 17,15,10,4 hours a week. What kind of job is that ? That is no job at all.
I had no idea that 27 hours was illegal ? But you need at least 20 hours or more.
4 hours is like a slap in the face.
Good luck.

I would talk to your boss and/or your boss' boss. 4 hours for a week is clearly unfair, ridiculous (and may be illegal). It is like firing you without firing you. It is like they are wanting for you to quit. Maybe so they don't have to pay unemployment (but that is just a guess). It is a Chickensh*t way to get you to quit. Shame on your boss!

If you don't stand up for yourself now, things will ONLY GET WORSE for you.

You deserve and need more hours. YES DEFINITELY Stand up for yourself and talk to them Immediately and get more hours. Good luck.

Invictus:
You should contact your immediate supervisor or team leader about scheduling. It can also be possible that the hours are filled our or they missed your name.
