Is this a great way to make fast easy money with gold?

Lets say I buy an ounce of gold for $1000 on eBay according to Google an ounce of gold is worth $1,134.50 today. So if I sell it wouldn't i make a nice profit of $134.50 per ounce? I could buy and sell like 10 and make $1345!

Where can I sell the gold to get full value? Do pawn shops give full value or can

In addition to the first two answers, in order to sell the gold, you have to bring it to a dealer who will not give you market value (probably a 5 – 10% markdown). If the dealer gave you market value, they could make a profit since the gold would not sell for more than market value. So the dealer will offer you, say 90% (about $1,000) for your ounce to cover overhead and profit. Plus, you are going to have to put money out of pocket when you receive your gold to get it appraised/assayed to get a certificate stating its authenticity.

Gold is a COMMODITY, ergo its price is the same EVERYWHERE….

Therefore you CANNOT "buy an ounce of gold on eBay for $1,000"….

And a pawn shop will never buy something from you for any more than (at most) half of its resale value…they are businesses, not charities!

regerugged:
If gold is worth 1,134 no one will sell it for less. I certainly would not buy gold on ebay. You could end up with brass.

Judy:
That of course assumes that you could buy is for less than its current value, which isn't going to happen.
