My credit score is 420 help?

My identity was stolen last year and they basically put about 2000 dollars on my credit (total of 4 collections) I've never done anything with credit besides taking out loans for college. Other than the money and 14 inquiries (from whoever had my identity). I'm stressing really bad. The account is a year

My identity was stolen last year and they basically put about 2000 dollars on my credit (total of 4 collections) I've never done anything with credit besides taking out loans for college. Other than the money and 14 inquiries (from whoever had my identity). I'm stressing really bad. The account is a year old which I think affects it negatively for being "new".. Will this affect my law enforcement career goals?

Cody: The damage from an inquiry lasts for only a year. Once the inquiries are a year old, your credit score will be the same as it would have been if there has been no inquiries.

Dispute only the collections. (Don't worry about the inquiries.) Send each credit bureau a written letter (do not use the phone) disputing each collection that is on its credit report (list the collections that are not yours; do not just say "all the collections" or something like that).

If you haven't already, file a police report. Contact all the major credit reporting agencies and let them know what happened. They can guide you on how best to repair your credit score.

If it's fraud, you can clear it up by making a police report and sending that report to the creditors. If it isn't fraud, yes, it will affect your law enforcement career goals.
