So I am 21, trying to do everything right, I work. I've been trying to find a job that pays a little bit more but there is literally no jobs much higher than minimum wage. I work more hours than I should, that I have no free time to myself anymore. I can't take the bus because where I live the bus is not reliable at all and it doesn't take me to my job. Plus there is always dirty, creepy hobo people on the bus. I've been molested on the bus once so I refuse to ride the bus again after that.
I am barely making it by with rent, car payment, car insurrance, food and phone payment. I literally have no money left over after all my bills, well today I just found out my car insurrance went up by $150 a month after new legislation being passed, theres no way I can afford this and I'm afraid if I get pulled over that I'll get my car taken for no insurrance. I pay $560 for insurrance right now, now its $150 more, WTF???? I CAN'T AFFORD THIS CRAP! I pay $265 for my car, 560 for car insurrance, 200 for rent, theres no way I can afford this. Am I supposed to give up my only transportation to work? What do I do? I live in the suburbs so everything is so far away you practically need a car to get places because the bus just ain't reliable. I need advice, what do I do????
Like I said I tried looking for a better job but unfortunaltly there ain't much jobs that pay much higher than minimum wage, I've tried to find cheaper insurrance but this is the cheapest I could find because I am under 24. What do I do?
AlCapone: Wow. $560 a month for car insurance for a female driver who has had no accidents. I would say you haven't tried hard enough to find cheaper insurance. Talk to your current insurance company and see if they can offer you discounts or possible reduce coverage to get the cost down.
I would also suggest that you aren't trying hard enough to find a better job. Set your sights higher than minimum wage jobs. Go after jobs that you may think you don't qualify for. You seem to be too self-analytic and it's holding you back.
Yes. You clearly cannot afford the luxury of a car with "full coverage" insurance, which you must have, if you have a loan.
I'd suggest you sell that car for what you can get for it, and buy a cheap clunker that looks like cr@p but runs ok, and drop your coverage down to liability only.
You should switch to a car that's more affordable or start looking for better paying jobs.

walmart and Home Depot are paying higher than minimum wage and I suspect that the post office is too. Apply online for food stamps. OMG you should not pay more than $190 tops on yur car, and if your insurance is that high it's because of something you did on he road (drinking/texting or something). How much is your car payment; how much is your car insurance? how much is your obamacare? Maybe your apartment is too costly. Maybe it's time to go back home to live with family (and be on their insurance maybe).
You are supposed to EITHER give up your car OR move somewhere else.
You can either move somewhere that insurance is cheaper, so you can keep the car, or you can move somewhere that not everything is so far away you don't practically need a car to get places, or you can move somewhere with trains, or you can move somewhere with safe and reliable buses…
Or you can move somewhere near where you work, so that you can walk to work.
The one thing that you cannot do is to get cheap insurance before age 25.
Ranting here will not change your situation. You're gonna have to take a hard look at your income and spending and make whatever painful choices will work.
You SELL your car…BUY ONE with NO NEED for COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE for the LOAN. It might be a piece of crap…but it will get you there. You are 21…what the HELL are you doing with a CAR PAYMENT and an comprehensive INSURANCE PLAN to COVER THE MONEY YOU BORROWED to get the damn CAR!?
If you cannot afford insurance coverage on your car you cannot afford your car. Period. Sell it.
