Opening a bank account in the UK?

Hi guys,

So I'm 17 and I plan to open a bank account for the first time because I didn't really see the point of opening one because I don't have a job (I volunteer) and I'm at sixth form the rest of the time.

I plan to go on Tuesday, but I have no idea what documents to take with me. I don't

Hi guys,

I plan to go on Tuesday, but I have no idea what documents to take with me. I don't have a passport, driving licence or provisional, what should I take?

Most banks now let you apply on line
however, as a follow up , they will want you to take ID documents
usually one from a List A, and List B etc
proving you are you (Photo ID typically),
proving you live where you say (so some official bill, gov document etc)

eg
Santander
http://www.santander.co.uk/uk/current-ac…

Nationwide etc
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/cur…

Halifax
https://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/c…

and for some of those, if you know someone who banks with them.
and they introduce you – you both get a intro reward

Alan:
Birth Certificate?
Tavy:
Birth certificate and anything with your address on it, also your NI number.
Clive:
First pick your bank, then look on its web site for what they say is acceptable. Take that.
