Tax question: Do I need to pay income tax if I receive 350 x $1200 donations from 350 people? each one as a gift, paid directly to my personal bank account.

There is no way the 'gifts' would be accepted as gifts by the ATO. An arrangement like that would attract income tax and most of it would be at the highest marginal rate (45% plus Medicare Levy)..
