Not necessarily. The answer will typically depend on the package itself. Was an authorized signature required? Did you sign your note? Is the package marked to only be hand delivered so that it can't be left with anyone except the receiver?

You can always call USPS to see what you need to do to receive your package.

No.

Delivery instructions gives USPS permission to leave the package with anyone or anywhere they feel comfortable leaving it. We don't know why USPS didn't want to leave it, but they didn't.

What should you do?
– you can go pick up the package at the post office that they notified you that it will be held at
– wait for the package to be re-delivered.

If nobody answered the door, they won't leave it if it requires a signature.

They won't leave it if the next door kids are outside and watching what the postal carrier is doing.

You go down to the post office and pick it up.
