Let's say hypothetically that you go home everyday for lunch from work and you have an hour. So it's easier for you to just make your lunch at home instead of having to haul everything to work. You eat something, but then you have an upset stomach and you end up in the bathroom and now you know you're going to be late coming back to work. What do you say to your boss? Do you just tell them that you're running a little late or do you explain the situation?
J: Running late. No one needs to know about your bowel movements.
You should call to tell boss that you are running late. You might arrive on time, but just in case you might be a little late, you want him/her to know.
So now turn that sentence into present tense and first person when you call your boss.
By the way. An hour is not enough time to run home, fix your lunch and then eat your lunch. You will ALWAYS be running late. An hour should be devoted to just eating your lunch….not preparing your lunch and then eating your lunch.
You have to find a way to take your lunch to work so you can enjoy it and eat slowly. Do they have microwaves at your work? Buy yourself those frozen dinners; my favorite was La Sagne. Or just make delicious sandwiches at home in the morning and take it with you. You will notice that eating a whole sandwich (cut into two halves) and a cup of coffee will take an entire hour. Go to the meat department and buy yourself some delicious sandwich meats and great cheeses. Pick up a bowl of potato salad or macaroni salad and enjoy that too. You will have just enough time for devouring the two items — sandwich and salad.
Then you will never be late again. That works in your favor.
If you had TWO hours, you could go home. But one hour is not enough.
I worked at a place that gave us only a half hour to have lunch. That is when I microwaved at La Sagne and wolfed it down. It took exactly 30 minutes.
Just running a little late, with the runs. JK, just running a little late.
Call in sick.
