What's so bad about globalism?

I want to hire slaves at a sweatshop in some third world country to manufacture goods for me. I can't pay people fair wages in my home country if I want to make good profit.

We need more sweatshops people! Not less.

We humans have enslaved other humans since the dawn of civilization. It is normal and proper.

Having been one of those slaves in a foreign world I would be more than happy to sew shirts and pants and whatever else I could and I would be happy to do it all day and night too if I could. That is the only way I can get above the adverse poverty I live in. So what if it is just for a few pennies a day? That is much more than I get cleaning the husks off of Avas. Sure I feel bad that your own country can't afford to have it done there anymore. But how glad I am that you chose this country to move to and have whatever you need produced here. Thanks…

The nature of our material existence thrives off of variety and diversity. 'Conformity' is destructive, which is what Great Britain realized, and the rest of Europe hasn't seemed to figure out, before "Brexit". This is not an intellectual or philosophic postulation, but 'Cosmic Law'. Societal constructs inherently fail because they are arbitrary and artificial. "Fake life" is not 'life' at all.

Because selfish Aholes like you exist to make it bad for your own benefit!

Actually though I think the best thing to do with people like you is charge a 100% tariff on your products!

See how much of a profit you can make on your own sweatshop workers!

A type of informal fallacy, actually several fallacies in one. It's an ironic begging of the actual question (i.e., the argument, properly and clearly stated, is "there are exploited workers, therefore globalism is bad," or, "globalism aka capital investment is bad because there are exploited workers"). In reality, wages that are low by U.S. standards are typically high by third world standards, hence those workers are moving from poverty to more comfortable circumstances. The notion of competition being an instrument of justice works when there are several non-colluding sources of employment, so that workers may switch from lower-paying work to higher-paying work. This is facilitated by good job/vocational training, a development unrecognized by Marx, but very much evident in economic history: i.e., the increasing specialiation of labor (Marx predicted the opposite, and was quite incorrect). A genuine economic "argument" is not a priori anti-capitalist, not anti-("exploiting") business, but rather notes that capitalism is raising many millions, and, at the same time, there are millions who are not well-educated, well-housed, and well-fed. But it does a disservice to the poor and developing countries to be so "black and white" about how prosperity develops. https://news.vice.com/article/fewer-peop…

Related: "Conscious Capitalism" moves the agenda past such psychologistic, fallacious "infantile leftism" that tends to err from its premising. NB Some of the most erring, fallacious "hate speech" is that of anti-capitalist rhetoric. A related problem: the tendency of prosperous "do-gooders" to criticize the U.S. unilaterally (e.g., "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man") while not documenting the similar, and too often more totalitarian/unjust practices of e.g. the PRC; such one-sided critiques are geopolitically misleading, particularly for the naive and/or those whose negative emotions tend to substitue for clear ability. E.g., someone like Jim Yong Kim (World Bank President) may be more helpful to economic development than several emoting leftists 😉

Philosophically speaking, it requires some philosophical outlook to intuit about globalism.

If you had to handle the whip and beat your own slaves you would cringe, pass it off and not be able to sleep at night for fear.

So shut up and get in the back of the wagon.
