altho 21 days has been the goal of refunds it is not set in stone, it could take longer and even having filed Jan 31, the 21 days has not elapsed yet
Bostonian In MO:
If you still have not received your refund by August 1st, it will be time to start worrying. As it's only been 8 days out of a 21 day estimated processing window, it's time to take a chill pill and stop worrying.
Pascal the Gambler:
Taking so long? It's been less than 10 days.
StephenWeinstein:
They're not. It used to take months. This is much faster.

However, one of the reasons that it isn't even faster is that you are checking every day. If their computers weren't tied up by excessive amounts of checking, then they might be able to process returns faster.

Max Hoopla:
Wow. A whole week. If you really want the money fast change your W-4 so that you get bits of it in every paycheck then you won't have to bellyache about IRS processing time.
amy lynn:
Do you usually file separately? If you changed from filing joint to filing separately, then the IRS may be taking a closer look at your return.

If you had something different in your information that your husband doesn't have, that could also be the hold up.

Judy:
What kind of income, deductions and credits did you have on yours? Please post again with that info.
David and Stephanie:
The IRS says that most returns (about 90%) will be processed with refunds sent within 21 days after filing. Its been only 8 days. So there's nothing to worry about.
