Working an extra shift?

I work part time my hours are , 2pm -6pm. Sometimes my boss asks if I can work from 9am-6pm. Should I get paid time and a half for working that morning shift, because I was not hired to work those hours?

Well if you work a set shift he can't make you work different times, but if you don't accept, your boss may drop you if they do not need you. The only time you'd get paid time and a half is if you work above 40hrs/week. By law, you have to get paid AT LEAST time and a half. Different places (usually warehouses and factories) will give you different shift pay for working LATER in the day. Usually the later the shift you work, the more they give.
Judy:
No. You only get time and a half for hours over 40 worked in a workweek.
Bob:
no you only get paid time and a half when you work more than 40 hours in one week
Eva:
No. If you're not working more than 40 hrs. per week you are not entitled to OT pay.
